We have had a great season and are starting to wind down, closing one cabin at a time, putting boats away, and winterizing. We have the firewood all stacked for the winter. Thank you to all of our guests for another wonderful summer. Our final day will be October 5th, and after that we will still be tidying up, and getting everything put to bed. Look for future posts about our opening date next spring, and next year's cabin upgrade projects.
Fishing has been fantastic this spring, even though we are having a short spell of cool, wet weather. Our guest have not let that deter them from getting out on the water. Things are expected to heat up again starting this Friday. This year we have added an adult sized and a youth sized paddle board, as well as one more single kayak, for guests to enjoy.
The unusually warm weather this April, plus the low snowfall over the winter, has led to a very early ice melt on the lake. Our bay is open up to the island already. Other parts of the lake are experiencing the same, with still the bulk of the ice sitting in the middle, away from the streams and shallows. The blackbirds, Eagles and ducks are back, so it shouldn't be long before we see our Loons. Their arrival is always a sure sign that Spring is here. No swallows yet, but they can't be far behind.
