Around the cabin
The Hilltop Cabin sits above the rest of the resort on elevated ground, giving it a wider view across Nimpo Lake and the surrounding Chilcotin landscape. From the cabin, you look out over the water and the treeline beyond — the kind of view that changes with the light throughout the day. Mornings are still, evenings are long, and sunsets from this position can be spectacular, with the colours reflecting across the lake below.
The elevated site also means the cabin is slightly removed from the main resort area — a good thing if you came for quiet. Walks down to the shared dock and lake access take just a few minutes on foot. The Chilcotin plateau surrounds the resort on all sides, with trailheads, back roads, and open terrain within easy reach by vehicle.
Dark skies and Northern Lights
The Hilltop Cabin’s position and the complete absence of light pollution in the West Chilcotin make it one of the better spots on the property for night sky viewing. On clear nights, the Milky Way is visible with the naked eye, and during geomagnetically active periods — typically fall and early spring — the Northern Lights can be seen from right outside the cabin door. No telescope required, and no alarm needed; clear nights in this part of BC tend to wake you up on their own.
The cabin is a May–October seasonal stay, so the longest nights of the year aren’t available here — but late September and early October, when the aurora season begins and the air turns cold, can be a good time to book if stargazing is part of your plan.
