Around the cabin
Pioneer is the cabin closest to the water’s edge. The covered porch faces Nimpo Lake directly, and the private fire pit is a natural place to end the day. Canoes, kayaks and paddleboards are included — load up at the beach and you’re on the water in minutes.
The lake in front of Pioneer is one of the better spots for shore fishing. Rainbow trout come into the shallows on calm mornings and late afternoons. The lake also supports good populations of perch and whitefish. A BC fishing licence is required and available nearby.
Seasonal stay: May to October
Pioneer opens in May, when the Chilcotin Plateau is coming out of winter and wildflowers are beginning to appear. July and August are the warmest months, with long days and calm evenings. September is one of the quietest and most beautiful times to visit — the light changes, the crowds thin, and the fishing holds strong.
The cabin closes in October as temperatures drop. If you’re travelling in shoulder season, bring layers — mornings can be cold even in June.
