Around the cabin

The Loon Cabin sits within a quiet garden setting, sheltered by trees and set slightly back from the water. A short walk brings you to the shared dock and lake access, where loons call out across the water on most mornings. The surrounding grounds are part of the larger resort property, so there’s room to wander — through the garden, down to the shore, or along the edge of the trees at dusk when deer sometimes pass through.

As the largest log cabin at the resort, Loon has more interior space than it might suggest from the outside. There’s room to spread out after a day on the water — gear in the corner, fish in the cooler, and a proper meal cooked without bumping elbows. The cabin’s log construction keeps it quiet and cool in summer, warm and solid in winter.

Year-round access

Loon Cabin is available year-round, making it one of only a few cabins at the resort open in the off-season. Winter visits are quieter and more solitary — the lake freezes over, the resort grounds go still, and the light on the snow is worth the drive out on Highway 20. The wood stove is your main heat source, and firewood is provided.

Spring and fall are popular with anglers who prefer the shoulder season, when the lake is less busy and the rainbow trout fishing can be at its best. If you’re planning a winter stay, check road conditions on Highway 20 before heading out — the route through the Chilcotin can be unpredictable after a heavy snowfall.
